Mark your calendars now for the 2019 Research Day, which is May 7 in Levin Hall.
Research Day is an opportunity for the UTMB research community to gather and share ideas moving the enterprise forward. The 2019 Research Day will focus on collaboration, commercialization and bioinformatics, and how these are advancing research efforts. Dr. Sachin Kheterapal, associate dean for research information technology and associate professor of anesthesiology at the University of Michigan Medical School, is the keynote speaker. Dr. Kheterapal established the vision and strategy for Michigan to effectively use information technology to advance the school’s research efforts. He advocates for IT priorities to help establish Michigan’s identity as a school using innovation to maximize research funding and outcomes.
In addition to Dr. Kheterapal’s keynote talk, Research Day will feature four lectures and a lunchtime panel, all devoted to the ideas of collaboration, commercialization and bioinformatics. Participants will hear from leaders in UTMB’s research enterprise, as well as those on the cutting edge of modern research ideas. Between lectures and discussions, there will be a vendor show featuring UTMB research vendors as well as the UTMB cores and research support areas. It is an opportunity for the research community as a whole to meet informally to learn about new advances in our cores and labs. Several research areas will be open for tours.
