Mentoring Matters keynote lecture and workshop

On March 2, ITS hosted Dr. Mitchell Feldman, Associate Vice Provost of Faculty Mentoring at UCSF, who designed and is helping lead the innovative CTSI Mentor Training Program, which trains faculty to become the next generation of confident and effective clinical and translational research mentors.

In addition to delivering a keynote lecture,The Value of Mentoring in Academic Medicine: Practical Tips and New Insights,” Dr. Feldman facilitated a Mentoring Matters workshop, including self-assessment exercises and small-group discussions centered upon helping mentors and mentees learn about topics like:

  • mentoring across differences
  • personal and professional balance
  • effective communication in mentoring
