Celeste C. Finnerty, PhD, Co-Director of the ITS Translational Research Scholars Program
(TRSP), Associate Professor in UTMB's Department of Surgery, and Associate Director of Research at Shriners Hospitals for Children - Galveston, has been accepted into the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Program for Women
ELAM is a highly competitive program aimed at growing the national pool of qualified women candidates for leadership roles in academic medicine, dentistry, public health, and pharmacy. As an ELAM fellow in the program’s 2018-2019 class, Dr. Finnerty will benefit from an intensive leadership training curriculum that includes extensive coaching, networking, and mentoring opportunities.
Dr. Finnerty earned a Bachelor of Arts at Rice University and a PhD at UTMB before completing postdoctoral fellowships, including an ITS Scholars KL2 fellowship
, at UTMB and Shriners Hospital for Children. Since joining the Department of Surgery’s faculty in 2005, Dr. Finnerty has proven to be an exceptional researcher, collaborator, and mentor, working with colleagues at both UTMB and Shriners to advance the burn research program and further the scientific knowledge available to improve patient outcomes.
