Patient Centered Outcomes Research

The goal is to foster the growth of a productive, well-funded community of comparative effectiveness research (CER) investigators at UTMB. The CER includes a core group of senior and junior faculty in the Departments of Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Preventive Medicine and Community Health, and Surgery, and the School of Health Professions at UTMB. The CER coordinates CER activities at UTMB, including a weekly seminar where investigators and trainees present preliminary data and grant proposals, review recent key publications in the field, and discuss innovative CER methods.

The CER also supports the development of applications for external funding from CER investigators throughout UTMB. Dr. Alai Tan, senior biostatistician in the Sealy Center on Aging, is available to provide analytic support for generating preliminary data. In addition, editorial and administrative support for grant writing and submission are available. The CER also offers mentoring support from senior CER investigators to faculty from UTMB clinical departments who would like to seek funding in CER.
