Greater Gulf Coast Translational Science Alliance (GGCTSA)

Clinical and Translational Research Pilot Program

Overview

The GGCTSA Clinical and Translational Pilot Program supports innovative translational science through two pilot funding programs that are guided by an interdisciplinary review committee comprised of experts in translational science, community engagement, research ethics, team science, entrepreneurship, and more.

Alliance Pilot Awards (APA)

The APA program is for teams with at least two (ideally all) GGCTSA partners. Data generated from these studies should result in advancing technologies to the next level or an NIH R01 or similar mechanism. We anticipate funding two APA pilot grants per year.

Mentored Pilot Award (MPA)

The MPA program is targeted to early career investigators (e.g., assistant professors) seeking pilot funds to establish a research program and obtain preliminary data for a future research development award (e.g., NIH K grant or similar). Each applicant must identify a research mentor from their home institution and a GGCTSA partner institution. We anticipate four awards per year, one for each GGCTSA institution.
