The NIH National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) defines translation as the process of turning observations in the laboratory, clinic and community into interventions that improve the health of individuals and the public — from diagnostics and therapeutics to medical procedures and behavioral changes. Because of the complexity of the translational research pipeline, multidisciplinary team science is recognized as an essential vehicle for the efficient advancement of translational research to produce meaningful health outcomes. To effectively engage in team science, translational scientists not only need strong discipline-specific knowledge and technical expertise, but also must be knowledgeable about essential skills and competencies for team-based translational science.

Current Positions Available: One postdoctoral positions are available for appointment beginning November 15, 2022. This is a 1 year appointment with an option to renew for a second year.

Eligibility: All scholars must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents at the time of appointment. Faculty mentors who are not currently affiliated with this TL1 Training Program must be approved and added as a Training Program Faculty Mentor (see Mentor Criteria/Responsibilities below). Inclusion of a clinical co-mentor is required for all scholars. The ideal applicant will be in their 2nd or 3rd year of pre-doctoral training.
