The October 2024 session of UTMB's BrainForward ECHO series focused on a motivational interview technique called the Brief Negotiated Interview (BNI). Dr. Carlos René Dostal, MD, PhD, UTMB Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Medical Director of the UTMB Primary Care Pavilion Substance Use Disorder Clinic, presented on the core elements and steps of the BNI as part of an intervention for individuals with or at risk of substance use disorders.
