Pilot Funding to Establish Multidisciplinary Translational Teams (MTTs)
As UTMB’s home for translational research, ITS is working to improve the health of our community through innovation, team science, and the development, application, and evaluation of precision medicine approaches. Multidisciplinary Translational Teams (MTTs) are diverse groups of researchers addressing a variety of important health issues. While each MTT is unique, they have some common elements, including a focus on translational research, and the fact that they are composed of both senior and junior level investigators from multiple disciplines or departments. In conducting their research, MTTs also focus on enhancing collaboration among members and strengthening partnerships with other researchers, industry, and the community. In addition, MTTs build the translational workforce through mentoring and accelerate translation by securing extramural funding for their work and disseminating their findings. Support of MTTs is intended to help investigators be even more effective in conducting collaborative research and mentoring trainees.
