About the Informatics Resource

ITS Informatics Service Center

The goal of the Institute for Translational Sciences Informatics Resource is to expand knowledge discovery from data derived from public health, clinical and basic science research. The Institute for Translational Sciences will provide concierge service as well as the resources and infrastructure to support informatics projects at UTMB and with our collaborative partners. Our faculty have expertise in bioinformatics (e.g. Next Generation Sequencing) and health informatics (including extraction of data from the UTMB Electronic Medical Record) with applications across the translational spectrum.

For the best service possible, we recommend contacting us during the study design phase.  You can submit a request for services at https://utmb.us/3ve. We are happy to discuss your potential projects and your informatics needs at any time. Whether you need help generating or retrieving data or analyzing data that you have collected, we can help you with your study. We provide several resources that you may find useful for your research. Additionally, we offer a variety of educational opportunities so that you can learn both theory and applications, including best practices for performing data-driven biomedical research. We offer courses in Biomedical Informatics and Visual Analytics in conjunction with the Education Core as well as seminars and hands-on training.

Bioinformatics: If your project involves basic biomedical sciences such as Next Generation Sequencing or Proteomics, we provide an array of services that fit your needs. Click here for more information.

Health Informatics: If you need data on human subjects or help storing, maintaining and retrieving data for clinical studies, we can provide data from the UTMB Electronic Medical Record (EMR) as well as other clinical systems at UTMB. We provide other sources of health data as well. Click here to learn more.

Visual Analytics: Click here for information on Discovery and Innovation through Visual Analytics.

The National Center for Data to Health (CD2H): Provides resources to share informatics best practices and advances across the CTSA Hubs. Please click here for more information.
